4月10日にバリー・シーンが亡くなりました。そのことをことを知ったのは、それから1ヶ月程過ぎてからのことでした。最も好きなライダーの一人でしたので、非常に残念です。亡くなったことも残念ですが、それを知らずに1月も過ごしていたことも悔しかったのです。あらめて、追悼致します。
この RGBは作りかけで数年まえからほったらかしになっていたのですが、完成させなければと思い立ち、なんとかアップいたしました。
80年型が田宮から発売されていますが、チャンピオンマシン以外のものがモデル化される傾向があるように思えるのですが気のせいでしょうか。GPマシンはタイミングが難しいですね。
このプロターのモデルも、メーカータイトルはスズキが守ったものの、個人タイトルは、ヤマハのケニー・ロバーツに奪われた年のもので、なんとも複雑な思いです。
それでも内容は、最近のプロターからは想像できないほどの素晴らしさで、この頃のプロターがそのまま進化していたらと、思うことしきりです。フレームやスイングアームなどは亜鉛ダイキャスト製です。接着や塗装しにくいことから嫌うひともいるみたいですが、私は、丈夫に組み上がるので、けっこう好きです。ただ、ハンダ付けできないのが玉に傷です。
ディスクローター も同じ素材ですが、磨くと金属独特の輝きがでて、光り過ぎず、鋳鉄のような鈍い輝きが得られるのがうれしいです。これはいかに精密なモールドに上質のメッキを施しても、プラスチックでは表現できないでしょう。タンクキャップは半透明のプラスチック製で、これは逆に、プラスチック素材でなければいけません、この頃のプロターはマルチマテリアルキットの先駆けでしたのですが…。ただ、せっかくのキャップですが、キットのねじ込み式は、市販型のRGのもので、ワークスは、エアロクイップタイプのものが使われていたようですので、後で直そうと思っています。
数々のエピソードや、戦歴などは、ここでは、あえて触れませんが、ゼッケンにまつわることを一つだけ。
バリー・シーンは引退後もレースに関わっていまして、解説やリポーター、司会などはもちろん、クラシックレースにもライダーとして積極的 に出場していたそうです。ノートンマンクスを駆り、ワイン・ガードナーと因縁の？争いをしていたそうです。
ヘルメットのドナルドダックと、ゼッケン7がトレードマークだったののは有名ですが、前年のランキングが7位以外の場合はどうしていたのでしょう、実は7位のライダーと交換もらっていたそうです。ある年そのゼッケン7の危機が訪れたのです。84年のシーンのランキングは6位、7位はガードナーでしたが、ガードナーはゼッケン7は譲らないということを 早々に公言していました。危うしゼッケン7、どうなるのかと心配していたらシーンが引退を表明、争いは無かったものの寂しい結末となってしまいました。74年から84年の11年間で、シーンが年間ランキング7位以下だったのは80年と83年の2回だけで、ともに14位でした、７位のライダーは、80年ジョニー・チェッコット、83年マルコ・ルッキネリで、チェッコットは4輪へ転向、ルッキネリはシーンとはかなり仲の良いライダーだったので、問題ありませんでした。
シーンもガードナーも、因縁とは思っていなかったでしょうが、こうしてみるとレースがもっと面白くなると思います。
そして、日本のライダーも、もっとクラシックレースに積極的に参加してもらいたいものです。元世界チャンピオンや全日本チャンピオンが、タイムトンネルなんかに出場してくれると、盛り上がると思うんですけど、高橋国光や元全日本チャンピオンの宮城光はエキジビジョンでRCレーサーに乗ったことはありますが、レースの方に出てもらいたいものだ。また、タイムトンネルのレギュレーションも見直して良い時期だとも思います。色々難しいこともありましょうが、関係各位にお願い致します。

Barry Sheene passed away on April 10.It was a thing that after it was to know a thing for about one month too much.It is very disappointing because it was one person of favorite rider.It regretted January to get along without knowing that though it was disappointing to pass away, too, too.Once again, it mourns.

The frame and the swing arm are manufactured by zinc casting.It likes it very much because I put it firmly together and it is raised though the person hated from being hard to paint, the adhesion seems that be, too.

It was the 14th prize that a scene was less than the annual ranking the 7th prize in eleven in 84 from 74 only at both 80 years and 2 times in 83.Marco Lucchinelli was the 7th prize for 80 years and for 7 prizes 83 years Jonny Cecotto.There was no problem because it turned 4 circle with Cecotto and Lucchinell was rider which was very good to the Sheene.
Both a Sheene and Gardner are thought a race to become more interesting when it is imagined like this though it may not have been thought fate.
